Yk I find it gross too but ml and mc both weren't ever fully familiar with what an actual family is like so it kind of explains their dynamic and why they can't let go of the "father" and "son" dynamic because its a safety net.
I hope there will be a therapy side story where they slowly realized they aren't like a father and son and actually lovers and finally stop calling each other that.
