I totally understand where you are coming from. However, I feel like this story shows the uncomfortable truth of how these situations would likely actually play out. Like the uncensored storytelling when these revenge scenarios take place during settings like this. Most stories will give extreme betrayal and painful backgrounds to the main characters and make the revenge lukewarm in comparison.
I love stories that focus more on the character getting some sort of revenge but more so finding their own happiness. Stories like this one with an unfiltered depiction of just how brutal things can turn out are also like a breath of fresh air too. The moment she told her sister she was reaping what she sowed was a moment where the story really drove home suffering the consequences of your actions whether you took it that far or not. (￣∇￣")
Yeah, I get that. And to be fair, it is one of the very few stories I've read where the betrayed got a "real" revenge. It's just that I don't think the punishment was proportional to the betrayal (￣∇￣")
I know that thinks can get super ugly when it comes to getting even, but damn it was so uncomfortable to read this one, especially handing the sister over to those brutes... And when the sister was like "it's not that bad" after being abused so horrifically, man, it was just no...
And to make things clear, I don't think that living the best life is the best type of revenge. I just think that brutality or violence is not always the answer. Psychological torture can get you far and for longer...
for me i am chill with the punishment being physically violent; but not super chill with it being sexually violent. but their transgressions were sexual so i guess author chose to make the punishment related to the crime but 10,000 fold. while caveman brain be is like /ok, i get it/, evolved me is like /couldn't you just cut his dick off, sever his tendons, and toss him into the slums? couldn't she have just been disfigured and crippled and tossed to the slums as well?/

I agree with you on this. I'm also fine with violent revenge, but when it goes to sexual one... Idk if it's the age or I'm pass certain tropes but sexual violence, especially in high degree just doesn't sit well with me, and it doesn't have to even be explicit.
Don't get me wrong, I love a good revenge, but both Basil and little sis getting gang raped is going way overboard...
Why not just have them confined and torture them mentally or something similarly "classy"?
