I wholeheartedly agree with that take! Im not a novel reader but if they both jist explained why they act the way they do to eachother itd be a whole different story! Riftan gets SUPER angry for Maxi's sake but reverts to commanding her to do as he says rather than telling her why he wants her to do that and why he's angry. He also has this idealized version of Maxi in his head and sort of forces that on her. Maxi wants to play into that because she is insecure and wants his acknowledgement and also she doesn't fight back or question Riftan which I think could be attributed to her history of abuse and this skewed idea of men due to her father and she also doesn't communicate her needs, wants, and feelings to him that much. They both just need to sit down and have a good heart to heart sometime! They need to build that trust that they are together for eachother and not for what they can provide for eachother (lavish life, safety, children, etc.)

It’s really surprise me that there’s Riftan haters.
My guess the manhwa readers never come across his novels about his past, I really recommend reading it.
The manhwa didn't do him justice.
