Me when I read this LOL. Like it wasn't bad at all, but they made it seem like there was betrayal in the past or some deaths. I actually thought the prince tried to kill the night but it was just nothingburger. I guess it just wanted to solely focus on the emotions felt during their past but still even that did not make me feel anything too deep to care much for the characters entirely

just finished it and just as i feared... my expectations were lwk too high ;-; don't get me wrong, it was definitely good, but it's not phenomenal iykwim.
i think a big reason as to why it wasn’t very convincing to me is that the backstory wasn’t even that angsty. like, wdum no one died LMAO. there is SO MUCH you can do with a forbidden romance set centuries ago, with a knight and a prince, and yet that’s all they came up with??? just an arranged marriage and the prince dismissing the knight over nothing? where is the drama bruh. so boring. no family feuds, no assassinations, no deaths, no wars, no NOTHING. i was honestly waiting for smth actually sad to have happened, like the knight committing suicide or smth HELP LMAO.
they were both acting like their past life was so crazy and there was just so much build up only for it to turn out to be so dang boring. it genuinely fell sooo flat. like sure, i felt a little sad that they separated, but the stakes were so damn low and they didn't even TRY to be together in the first place. no arguments abt how he’s marrying someone else, no trying to run away together, no hiding a secret relationship, literally nothing lol. they weren’t even get together in the first place. they clearly liked each other, but leo just got married one day and that was it. it’s hard to care when the character themselves don’t fight for each other.
