Aechma either knew or strongly suspected that Sensei was no longer capable of praying them to rest, meaning that traumatizing him wouldn’t work.
Supposedly not a single gem that ever went up agree to cooperate with their goal, but what did that look like? They had to reassemble them, probably restrain them to speak with them, then shatter them and crush them afterwards. It was cold and deliberate murder by beings who knew exactly what it meant.
Also the Lunarians act like they’re s damn miserable as if they don’t have a perfectly functioning society. They’re just bored. They act like they did the admirabilis such a favor by taking them in as if they didn’t have the technology to help them grow more food while allowing them to keep their intelligence and awareness.
The admirabilis could have lived fine with some technological advancement, and the gems’ only problem was the Lunarians constantly shattering and kidnapping
