Do I need to read pearl boy before this or it’s a separate story?

I would definitely recommend reading pearl boy, I binged read pearl boy and then started this,
and it will give you so much context for the connection mc has with the characters from Pearl boy and also the situation of mc’s life

They just appear here as if it’s normal and I think you will get confused on who the fuck are they, and also what is his relationship with them so

And I also feel like since I read pearl boy I can envision more characters getting involved in this story
It would give you more opportunities to guess what is going to happen and enjoy the story
