From what I remember (it's been a while since finishing the novel) it goes like this: they defeat fake Yvonne, Penelope gets a chance to go back to a real world AND heal her old body, but decides to stay (despite seeing her family irl misses her and the previous vision of them was a lie) - she heals Marques Verandi stuck with a curse instead (using the reward from completing the mission). We see an echo/soul of real Yvonne, she really is dead but gets reincarnated somewhere, Derrick is a mess, Penelope's general relationship with her family gets better, Callisto becomes the emperor and she is to become his empress. Seeing how imperfect their relationship is in the side stories was honestly refreshing, you see genuine love but also conflicting needs/fears. Penelope pursues archeology+magic, there is some quarreling but also making amends, the story ends with Penelope revealing to Callisto she is pregnant (he was constantly worried she'll one day decide to go back to her world/regret staying and abdons him). It ended on a happy note, they really love each other and actually compromise and try to work things out. One of the best stories in this genre, if not The cult classic
