i think you're forgetting he was literally brainwashed and abused as a kid to the point he was void of all human desires, even the need to eat and sleep. he isn't "choosing" to not show emotions or be cold, it's just the way he is, he can't really help it.
ok so i just read all the spoilers until the latest one and all I can say is she better off dead than alive idk, that’s like the only good ending for her instead of suffering every second. and Varcas should be affected by it a lot idc if he liked her or was the only one taking care of her because it’s partly his fault for being too cold and not wanting to show emotions to the mc. and let’s not forget how he treated the mc when she was a kid, like he literally let her brother hit her yk the ml could’ve prevented it but he just stood there. also i hope her twin siblings die
