fastforward, thalia indeed was declared dead after a siege battle was held at kalmore(the ml duchy) and she was burried in a rubble and when ml found out he dug so hard till he saw her body and it's no longer breathing.
So her funeral lasted 3 days and after that ml was so empty yet he continued to work for the stabilization of the duchy after the war( maybe his way of coping and to keep him distracted after "fl's death". Later on the twins visited the duchy and they came quite extravagant like really happy (like fl's death is nothing but good news) in contrast to the atmosphere with the duchy. Of course the main purpose is to propose one more time to bring back the once broken engagement with Ayla the first princess (this girl annoys me). Gareth the 2nd prince has come to suspect that ML has made some pact/promise with their mother which he cannot break and it's true, because ml was made to swear to God to protect the twins even in his dying breath by the one and only first empress whom he had thought to have freed him from his shackles only to bound him once again with another shackle. They do suspect that the empress has the precognitive ability and yes she told the ML that he would meet someone who will give him a purpose in life (which seems to be the fl). She knew that yet he still let a young child make a promise more like oath like she knew he will become some threat in the future, (so she literarily took advantage of a young child whom I think she saw the future who will bring harm to her children in the future (and I guess who's fault is that to begin with (the royal family is cold to thalia in the first place) so back on track, ml swore to protect the twins (which should just die (sorry i don't really like them they take advantage of ml just like their mother) and if he breaks that or tries to harm the twins some backlash happens to him which happened when he tried to choke the crown prince (this is after he pestered ml about marriage and i think talked badly about thalia). So it became a curse for him. Hopefully some miracle happens and he will one day be able to be free from that curse and be able to choose the life he wants.
So regarding the death of thalia, ML believes that she is still alive (this made me think wether the body is real or not) and the novel is still ongoing so who knows...
I am loving this, i was planning to read the novel too...but the spoilers is making me anxious cause what do you mean
