I didn’t like him in the beginning but he does get better. I think people have different lines that can be crossed or not (like the times he forces kisses on her). For me the line is rape like I cannot read stories where the male lead does that because every action they do afterwards becomes gross. So I think some people may understand that he has character development, but the first few chapters overshadow that for them.

I agree that everyone has things they do and don’t like, and I definitely agree with you on that. Where I disagree is your other point about him force-kissing her being equivalent to rape. I don’t think that’s rape, so let’s not jump the gun here.
I’ll agree that forcing yourself on anyone is wrong, but to me, I’ve read much worse stories and seen MLs who have done far more questionable things to the FL, including actual rape. What this ML did would be considered sexual harassment at most, not rape. It’s still wrong, obviously, but I don’t hate his character for it, especially considering the kind of person he was at the beginning of the story. He redeemed himself far more than what he did to her, especially compared to other MLs who have done much worse and don’t even have a redemption arc that feels sufficient for their actions toward the FL.
I can’t even count how many stories I’ve read where we see FLs kissing the MLs without their consent, but most readers see it as cute and call them “girl bosses.” So maybe, for me, I’m just desensitized to kissing without consent, and I don’t automatically hate a character for doing that. But actual rape and sexual assault are a completely different line for me.
But like you said, everyone has different boundaries and different lines they’re willing to cross or not cross

It’s honestly funny to me how people start a story and, instead of giving it a proper chance before judging the characters, especially the ML, they read a few chapters, jump to conclusions, and base all their criticism on that alone, lol.
I don’t care what anyone says, I love the ML and the way he’s obsessed, possessive, and deeply in love with the FL. I love how he always chooses her over the world and even himself.
We seriously need more mature readers and not people who just hate on stories without trying to understand the themes and messages behind them. thank you, artist-nim, for this masterpiece
