I absolutely adore this author and I will finish the story only because of that, but i’m currently on chapter 30 and I just can’t with what the MC did… like do I understand why he did what he did and his own trauma and issues- yes. But also, it was a bit too much.
I’ve read multiple yaoi stories that have this whole “i’m going to push you away to pretext you” trope, and usually I never have an issue with it considering the characters are high schoolers or young adults, but 30…?
The MC is very much a loser. And yes, it’s also understandable why he is, but a part of me can’t help but blame him for his own circumstances. I mean look at the ML… he never much has it worse and is doing good for himself and was doing well mentally until the MC fucked it all up.
I think I just got personally triggered by what the MC did, making someone trust you and finally open up to you then throwing it all in their face (even if it’s to “protect” them)… will never sit right with me.
ESPECIALLY his comment on MLs mom and how he should forgive him. Boiled my blood (even knowing it’s a lie)
Also, he could have chosen a different day to do this, like given the MLs track record of self harm, in what world did you think it wouldn’t be extremely dangerous to do what you did on the day that you did.
It’s childish and this trope that works only when children do it.
