See, I had an issue with that when I first read it but by the end you realise it's not just the 'bully actually in love' trope but it's also that the uke was in love with him as well. I think it might have made more sense if we'd seen more of their high school days and Ayames perspective. At some parts it wasn't EXACTLY bullying imo but obviously bullying is more about how the victim feels in response the acts. Anyway, by the end I think it was more a "they were both actually in love with each other" situation
