that webtoon is sooo obviously a childbirth propaganda story on top of demonizing orphans. "he became evil bc he didn't receive enough love as a child"

like i was neglected as a child till adulthood and i didn't grow up to kill the person i love bc they didn't love me back

i get that you think I'm reaching, but when the coincidences, norms and facts pile up, it would be stupid to not recognize it for what it is

is korea struggling with their child birth rate? yes
is there more and more child rearing webtoon and novels coming out? yes

is korea known for being unkind to orphans, socially and economically? yes
is there a common trope of the unloved and/or orphaned child growing up to be a horrible person? yes

is korea known for judging children brought up without a mom specifically? yes.
is there a common trope of a child growing up no better or even worse than an orphan when they don't have a mom, eventho they have a dad? yes.
is there a common trope of a child being the youngest and only one who physically and personality wise resembles the dead mom being loved by her father and her brother(s) that resemble their dad? yes

when all of those unconsequential things pile up to become a mountain, you can't just close your eyes to it, it's right in front of you.

does that mean i don't read those stories? no i do, i like many of them. but it gets to a point where I've read the same backstories literally hundreds of times (like fr, my reading and read lists amounted to 10k together and about a third of it was fantasy stories with the same backstories)

mind you, actual real people go through this. there are so many killers especially serial killers who have been abused & grew up with no affection & go off being the horrible people they are. it’s definitely not an excuse but it goes to show that not everyone who goes through the same abuse are affected by it the same way. like, it’s good that you didn’t grow up to be “evil” like the boy in this manhwa did when he grew up but that’s not the case unfortunately for everyone. everyone’s brains are different when it comes to such trauma & abuse. you can’t base your experiences & expect eveyone else who grew up similarly to turn out how just like you did .
