so what are the spoilers getting wrong and what does actually happen? i really like this story so far its very interesting but id rather it not just go complete dogshit
I’m up to around chapter 80 (however there is 240 chapters released so I will only speak of the novel up until that point that I have read) so we’re finally getting a glimpse of the ML’s POV but a lot of the “ML feels nothing towards her and it is out of obligations” and “she forms no meaningful relationships” is just. Blantently false. Yes, while the ML was definitely raised to showcase no emotions, we have seen even up until this point him act “irrationally” rational in regards to her to the point in the novel the Prince seethes at him and asks why he treats the FL and defends her so, does he harbor feelings for her (he often comes to her rescue whenever the prince lashes out at her and uses the excuse of I have to protect ALL three of you by orders of the emperor) even up until the engagement he doesn’t agree to marriage but leaves it up to the FL, however the scene is portrayed to humiliate her when the emperor asks the ML whether he wants to marry her. EVERYONE is expecting the ML to reject her out right, it was not his duty to say yes. He was not forced nor did he feel obligated. Instead, he left it in her hands but she was so drugged out of it and in pain so she passed out. A while later, she approaches him in the middle of the night still doped up on pain killers and was not sober at all and approached him and asked to speak to him. He rejected it, told her to rest and wanted her to have whatever conversation with him sober because only then will her opinion matter however she told him to marry her and to leave her sister, and he was shocked and all the talk about sobriety flies out the window and he says yes, he will marry her. The FL can barely recall this conversation and even on the day of the wedding, she’s doped up and drugged out and cannot recall anything. She doesn’t even know she’s marrying him and when she attempts to leave the ceremony he stops her says it’s too late to back out, that they will marry one another, and the moment the ceremony ends he says he will not let her be the laughing stock or gossip and promptly leaves for his dukedom. There’s a lot more but all in all I was expecting to dread this coming in, wondering if truly she would suffer with one sided love and I read the novel and I’m like what about ANY of this is one sided? He literally states in his POV his grey world filled with colors the moment he met her, he fell for her at first sight but wasn’t able to piece his emotions to an explanation
Over all, what I am trying to say is - the novel holds a lot more nuances. Sure I am in chapter 80 and I’ve also head about the shitshow that will happen and frankly I am apprehensive about continuing if it is true, however so far the spoilers do not really capture everything I have read so far and in my opinion, even dumbs down the novel and does a disservice to what I have read up until that point. I read the novel out of curiosity, and the more I read the more of the spoilers I recalled made me frown. While I do certainly think this is a tragedy, the complexity of the characters does not reflect the spoilers and like I mentioned, the nuances are missing. I am going to keep reading the novel and see but I think everyone should form their opinions based on the source they are reading and not spoilers that miss context

I think people definitely ran with one version of the novel and it got twisted along the way because the way this man wants her is so evident to the point one of his knights was like “her beauty is the type to cause trouble and stir jealousy and want. And your brother knows this (the knight was speaking to the ML brother) which is why he doesn’t want anyone to look at her” basically insinuating ML was jealous as he refused to let her be seen by others and anytime someone tried to look at her past the cloak he gave her, he would sharply pull her back to him and hide her face. And this is like. Week one into their marriage

thank you!! thats so much better to hear, i will stick to the manhwa for now then. i wonder also if they will change things for the manhwa, i feel like that tends to happen when a novel gets adapted to this form. maybe if shit truly goes south after the point u have read up to, the manhwa might change things up a bit. either way, i am so so hoping the manhwa will handle the heavy topics it tries to portray with care, so many times that is not the case
I definitely made this post in response to the uproar about the SA allegations the female lead is facing I saw in a comment before mine. I am up to chapter 130 by this point and again I am so upset because now I feel like the people who spoiled it just fucking hate her and purposely twisted that scene because he literally did not want to sleep with her BECUASE she was so badly injured she could barely sleep without drugs to which she replied she did not care she wanted him now and he asks if she’ll regret it which she says no and he tells her if at any point she wants to back off and wants him to stop, he will. It was consensual but in some ways, the circumstances were not consensual in that the female lead didn’t want it this way, but feared for her life because her mom made it seem like the Prince was going to kill her if she did not produce an heir and the ML sensed that something was off ever since her mom’s visit and knew in some ways she was being forced to do this, his concern was due to her injuries and whether or not SHE truly wanted this, and then after this their sex life has been quite consensual. Like I even took screenshots because defending her now feels like a full time job. Granted SHES DONE A LOT OF THINGS TO PMO IN THE NOVEL so I wish people focused on that and discussed the nuances of her actions instead of viewing it in black and white terms. Even the scene has more nuances than my explanation which if I go into it, will be even bigger than this already big paragraph. But yes, I can see why this author’s stories keeps getting adapted despite the hellish torture they put the character through. They are simply a really great author and it’s a question of whether or not the manwha will manage to adapt the complexity of the characters and setting

MISOGYNY!!! people are always so much more harsh on women, especially if those women arent perfect victims. god forbid a woman has nuance to how she handles trauma and what her trauma response is like thank you kindly for letting us all know what actually happens in that scene, i will keep reading, i quite like the FL. i feel like she is a fresh and realistic take of someone in her position with her experiences
Please do not listen to those spoilers about the novel omg. I’ve been reading the novels slowly but surely and a lot of it is largely different from these spoilers and what they are portraying. There is much more nuances that these spoilers have gotten seriously wrong. I went into it expecting a different thing entirely but was pleasantly surprised. Y’all, please take the spoilers with a grain of salt
