He goes back because he realized he cannot escape vermouth in that city they control politics, police force, economics. So ranther than run away again only to be found in days he’s doing it willingly, to avoids what could happen if Lyle decides to do things by force, at least he’s not tied, chained, gagged, or abused physically. He gets to walk in there and has freedom of being treated like a person. He cuts the contract short to 3 months does not compromise on more than that, and his plan is to get out of there in a way that won’t have them chasing him…. Things don’t go as planned tho (︶︿︶)
