ur right the dad is the guild masters brother and gru’s mom is a blonde scientist. They had a one night stand and the brother never came out of the portal + the mom dies so he never knew he had a child.
Gru’s mom is somewhat alive, since her soul is in the system and is looking after Gru. The condition being censored is called “Mom loves gru so much”
The dad is also alive but he turns out to be the villain. He surrenders himself as soon as he learned about Gru. There were bad voices in the portal that made him do evil stuff so
