Yeah, I never understood that as well. I also use a lot of my real life friends as references, including myself when I write something. Is it such a big deal?
I don't think it's about that really, more that it's Juheon's specific trauma of being lied to by his aunt where she was pretending she loved him but she was just using him, so it would've felt like the same thing for him when he realized Dohu had ulterior motives originally, like it just reactivated the old feelings in him yk
it’s the principle. juheon has been used his entire life by the ppl around him for ulterior motives. especially his family. he fell in love with dohu bc he thought dohu was blunt and honest and had no ulterior motives. when it’s revealed that the foundation of their relationship was actually (despite it not being out of maliciousness) built on an ulterior motive: dohu building a character off of juheon, he concluded the dohu was exactly like the other ppl in his life that— in his words this chapter “want a piece of him”/ only want to be involved with him for their own personal gain

It's not just because Dohu used him as reference. It's the lies and his trauma. Dohu had plenty of opportunity to correct the misunderstanding but he just brush it off thinking it's insignificant and that it's okay as long as Juheon never know. Juheon grew up being used by his aunt, playing with his feelings. Remember how his aunt brought him to his mom's grave when he thought he'd be seeing her alive? The whole time his aunt was pretending to be a good old mother but was actually faking it for money? It's not that simple for Juheon. Him walking away from Dohu and his family is valid coz they were in the wrong. Dohu realized that too late.
Oh! So, when Dohu referenced him, he felt that Dohu was only there because of that reference? Like that was his only worth to Dohu?

Ahh right i remember dohu refused to come out clean cause like to him it wasnt that big of deal as generally should be the case but he didnt know juheon s trauma rhats why we are here...i really hope they actually talk out, like yk get massively drunk and spill it all out but instead we gonna get some yk, if only salivapathy existed sighs
