They do mention that animals are the primary source for the trees. So I don’t think that inherently is a bad source
oh yeah, that's true... but so long as even those exist, there will still be people using the seeds on people among those that know.

Its a good question! I am guessing its going to come from a super far in the past flash back we may get down the line. Shirahama has made one of the most interesting stories for me in a while

I fear the only way for this struggle to end would be at best, a war and the disappearance of all magic, esp considering the source of the conjuring ink that's the only way of drawing spells.
But there's also the fact that people are too dependent on it and there's no way to ensure the disappearance of the trees...
