Let's be real, even self-aware avoidants (at least dismissive avoidants) will most likely not change or grow. Statistically, they are the least likely of the attachments styles to heal and become securely attached and emotionally available. I dated one for 12 years, knew him for 17. Even after years of therapy, he never changed. They aren't worth it fam and no, you can't fix him. God knows I tried.
That must have been hard on you. And you’re right. You can’t fix someone who doesn’t want to change. Growth is an inside job. I’m glad you chose yourself, and I wish you inner peace.
Avoidants are legit headaches but as long there is awareness, there is room for growth
