Well, i used to do this A LOOOT with my friends back in college, rather than chatting on like kakao or line or wechat or whatsapp apps (or any other chatting apps) we usually just chatted through spreadsheets or google docs (gdocs)
So in spreadsheets and gdocs, there's a feature called "share" where you can add people or groups to be a collaborator and it can updated real time (synch with ur gmail acc)
Often times since we're "too locked in" most of the time, we rarely check our phone and solely focused on our PC, so instead we're just chatting real-time on spreadsheets or gdocs especially if our group project has something to do with using those two. It's easier that way and i think it's the sense of seeing your friend online at the same time as you and you know you didn't work alone(?) like yeah we're struggling in this together(?) kinda
Like I'm in the engineering field so it's not so lonely when we're working on a group project and once i want to add something on the spreadsheet, i noticed that one or two of my friends are also online at like 2 AM (yeah you can see it realtime who's online during that time when you work on that document) it's SOOO FUN honestly, like we're working and sometimes gossiping together but still get the work done

Why and how tf are they chatting on excel.......
