To the people justifying rosa’s actions by saying “he’s bigger than her,” “he can fight back,” or “he enjoys it,” are we reading the same thing? it feels like some of you do not understand how assault works at all or you're pretending not to. Rape does not only happen through physical overpowering. It can happen through coercion, manipulation, emotional pressure, threats, and blackmail, size doesn't matter, and in Yeon-woo’s case, that is exactly what is happening.
Rosa is literally threatening him with his engagement ring, and Yeon-woo is clearly terrified of what she might do with it. He has said "no", "stop" repeatedly but she didn't. the story has shown yeon-woo as an orphan boy, with trauma, who has no real support system, no friends, no family, and has no where to run too, except for rosa’s mother, who basically owns his life and bought him after paying off his debts. That power imbalance matters.
What shocked me the most was seeing comments saying he “deserves more abuse.” And let’s be honest, if this exact scenario involved a female victim, the comment section would be in flames right now. gosh double standards are insane.
I genuinely hope Yeon-woo gets a revenge arc or at least escapes rosa and her mother so he can finally experience what actual care, safety, and consensual BDSM with the right partner looks like. I picked up this manhwa because of the forbidden relationship and femdom tag, thinking it would involve consensual domination and submission, not dubcon, non-con, coercion, and straight-up abuse disguised as femdom. And I'm too deep into the story to drop it now.
When I saw the cover at first, I thought it would be him consenting to being stepped on and beating. But nothing about this represents healthy BDSM or actual femdom dynamics. A real dom respects consent, boundaries, preparation, aftercare, and safe words. Forcing someone into submission, manipulating them emotionally, and violating them without proper communication is not femdom, it’s abuse

thank you, you said this so well. ╥﹏╥ I’m tired of people normalizing rape just because the perpetrator is female. Ive seen soo many manhwas like this recently that have high ratings despite having noncon. consent is clear and voluntary, not an afterthought…

Like seriously, this fandom is genuinely weird and disturbing. Imagine defending a rapist FL, calling her a “girlboss” for doing the exact same things we hate a male character doing, and then turning around to victim blame the person being assaulted.
This is exactly why male victims irl are rarely taken seriously. The moment the victim is a man, suddenly people start making excuses, downplaying sexual assault, or acting like he “wanted it” instead of recognizing what’s actually happening

exactly! what’s “girlboss” is not defending manhwas like these. manhwas like these play a power imbalance and the assault is treated as a drama or even watering the situation down to “desirable”. People tend to romanticize it based on the protagonist. If Rosa was not the fl people would criticize her. Consent does not involve coercion, in the dialogue of this manhwa he says “no”, and “stop”, multiple times. We as viewers are practically being forced fed this down our throats like when we get ads on commercial. And the fact people are saying, “don’t read it then”, “don’t expect morals in smut”, is just as disgusting. If you genuinely like these manhwas how would you react to situations like these irl? get an erection? like I said, consent is clear and voluntary, not an afterthought. Just because his body reacts a certain way does not mean he “liked” it. manhwa like these are exactly why victims irl are disregarded, because we as a society, normalize it and water it down to “smut”. Thank you for calling it out, it’s genuinely disgusting. ┑( ̄Д ̄)┍

100% agree with everything you said. It’s painfully obvious that what’s happening here is coercion and abuse, yet people are bending over backwards trying to romanticize it becoz the perpetrator is a FL. I’ve honestly only seen this level of disturbing defense in some yaoi fandoms where people excuse rape, tell others to “just drop it,” and attack anyone who dares call it out.
But the funny thing is, you almost never see this same energy when a ML is the perpetrator and a woman is the victim. Nobody tells readers to “stop being sensitive” or “read the tags” when they criticize a male character for assault. Instead, people rightfully drag him. But suddenly when it’s a FL doing the exact same thing, people start making excuses, psychoanalyzing her trauma, calling her a “girlboss,” or accusing others of hating flawed women for criticizing her actions.
That hypocrisy is exactly what annoys me. Understanding a character’s trauma or liking the character or story, is not the same thing as excusing their behavior. Yet some readers only apply that logic to FLs while refusing to extend the same understanding or accountability to other characters, especially MLs. They’ll scream that cheating, abuse, manipulation, or assault is unforgivable when a man does it, then suddenly become morally flexible the second a FL is involved.
At this point, the double standards in these fandoms are just blatant. Either hold every character accountable regardless of gender, or stop pretending the criticism is about “morality” in the first place.
Sorry, I've said and written alot btw
