I know right!? I really loved their beginning, end and everything in between! I loved that he gave everything for her, even his name to their child! I liked that, for the first time ever, she went against the towers wishes for her child! I liked that Lanost took sometime to get himself together after she died and went to get his son after! (Though it did mean that shic had no parents as a child).
What I didn't get that well was which country he was working from... The story is centered only in this country, so the country of origin of Lanost (and every other country) is a bit of an enigma. We don't know if the monster gates also happen there or not. And things like that...
He gave his powers to Shic. He can no longer Awaken because he gave it to his son.
It took him a few years to heal and get back to his son.
As for where he came from? Probably one of the other nations that he created a legend in, but the series ended before we could get to that.
It seems as if the Empire is where magic began with the contracts to Awaken. And The Tower provided special protection to the Empire through those evil means.
But that the rest of the world might have other means. Magic stones control powers too.
And we know Dio comes from a completely different dimension than the humans and demons.
So who knows how far this story could encompass from Helios, The Tower, the Imperial City, to the Empire, to the demon world, the continent, the world, other dimensions...
Only those that received a name from awakening seems to have lost their powers, except Lidersis because of the source of his powers.
Perhaps, everyone still have their magic, but it feels the adult lost theirs because upon awakening they sign a contract to receive their names. Since the contract is broken, they lost the power of their name and thus their magic. That's my theory.
Also, we never received a clear answer as to who of the two Kings actually formed a contract with the princess. So, considering the fate of one, perhaps it was a long time coming since he's gone now.
True, I wonder if he will be up to a new contract after what happened to his brother?
Besides, the remains of the previous King got scattered across the land, so I think that it is still sustaining them but not as much as before. Perhaps, losing the contract was just a delayed aftereffect. It doesn't make sense that the adults lost their magic just because he returned to his dimension.

This thing is good enough to have a remake just what is it about and IS THERE ROMANCE?
