i knew it was slop when i saw the cover.. these bland ass stories hate women. it makes no sense to me that authors will add magic and other fanciful shit to their stories and then, much like leveling a forest to build an apartment complex, ruin somethin beautiful to put somethin ugly in its place like misogyny, patriarchal nonsense, etc.. and these fuckin saintess ones are always the worst bc they never flesh out the god(s) the FL serves, or include many if any ceremonies tied to the religion (fasts, festivals, rituals). so many authors just create a vaguely catholic-looking church and religion but then don’t EXPLAIN ANYTHING. and when they have powers related to bein a saintess it’s just “something the FL can do” basically saying “a higher power must give you an opportunity for you to achieve success” instead of.. idk.. HAVING SELF CONFIDENCE AND LEAVING UR SHITTY HOUSEHOLD BEHIND?! why don’t saintess/saints have to WORK for their abilities?? monks and priests study and practice, but a saint/saintess can just do whatever with no consequences? there’s no way an untrained saintess/saint could be a conduit for a god, the power would prob make them implode.
