A guy hanging on a past bcs he was betrayed by a goldigger, even though there's perfectly good girl r8 in front of him. This love-hate ship, completely ruins the vibes of the whole story ┑(￣Д ￣)┍

She said "You took my innocence" and I was like Did I get it wrong??? And no, I understood perfectly, there's something about that couple that's a bit off. The prince should move on

Is it something like: "Prince's maid became his lover and then he left her for uncertain reasons, so she went after another family member to take a revenge on him and trample on his pride and feelings"?
OR maybe they took her away from the prince by force and he did nothing, so she climbed the ladder to spite him?

You are quite spot on!! When they became lovers, the prince wanted to send her far away to protect her but she refused when the prince left to entertain some guests she was forced by the queen to enter the king's bedroom and become his mistress. Later, when the prince came back he thought she betrayed him and became his father's mistress. Then, later in the novel, he came to know what happened and ridden with guilt leaves his position as the crown prince despite the queen's plea not to and camilla also leaves the palace. However, they still don't get together in the end
Hell ye, I kinda don't understand the queen tho. How is becoming King's mistress better than staying as prince's maid? Was it solely with the purpose to break them up or is there some other kind of powerplay?
It was to break them up, she did'nt want a commoner to become Queen, so she used to bully Camilla when she was just a maid. She eventually forced Camilla to become the king's mistress because she judged it would better than becoming a queen and coveting her son.
