The smiling man was a high ranking official who basically planned the murder of the king and said he would back the mc so others knew he had support (high enough that he would be spared by the new power holder). Well that was a lie, and as soon as the mc killed the king, the smiling man turned on him and the mc and his friends were all sentenced to death.

i dont think i understand, the mc killed the king..so why is that other man smiling? the one that called everyone after the mc did the murder, and is he dead?..why ws the mc spared? the mc did the murder so why is he mad that hes comrades got killed too? didnt he think there were going to concequences like that? can someone explain
