Just imagine this, there are straight manhwa and in those straight manhwa, it is mostly girls who are mc, but there are straight manhwa where boys are the mc and they chase after the FL

mc can be anyone when the story starts it could start with the uke the reason it says mc and ml is because it shortened from main character and main lead the damn top/seme and bottom/uke are irrelevant and will confuse readers the whole point of main character and main lead is obvious in abbreviation dont add the other parts
They probably added that part BECAUSE some people misunderstood the concept of mc and ml in the first place. Some people think that when you're the mc you're automatically the bottom (like a synonym of uke and bottom like that). So they specifically said that in this story, the Mc is the top and the Ml is the bottom.

People assumed that the tan boy is the MC and the pale boy is the ml even tho the story started and stayed with pale boy's perspective, it's pretty obvious that pale boy is mc but people assumed that he's not because he's a seme or the dominant person in the relationship and he acts kinda red flag, we have red flag mc too and they can also be dominant or seme.
