This is exactly why Jack the Ripper was never caught btw. They saw that the victims were mutilated with surgical precision but didn’t round up ALL people with surgical knowledge. Yes, the 4 main suspects were self proclaimed doctors one way or another BUT male doctors weren’t the only ones with surgical knowledge nor would they have much motive against these women. A midwife or female obstetrician absolutely would have motive AND means to kill the victims while escaping with no one doubting them EVEN if they were covered head to toe in blood or holding a woman’s uterus. And one of the suspects was a conman who said he was a doctor but are we meant to believe him?
Anyway, this is that. People never suspect the good doctor of foul play. I bet a lot of murders are done by medical staff both back in the time period this was set in and now.
