No BS explaining and back/forth like I do either. To not feel pressured to educate people who do not care…I love it~

I’ll explain because unfortunately I love to explain myself. This is racist because it portrays harmful stereotypes about a racial community. A harmful stereotype is a popular belief used to generalize an entire community associating them with negative behaviors/traits/experiences.

The one seen in this plot is indigenous/darker skin individuals are “wild”, “barbaric”, and “uncivilized”. Inherently these are all traits that can socially consider a person to be less. So when attached to an entire race…are we beginning to understand? No? Okay, walk with me. We’ll have to slow things down for some of yall.

Let’s zoom out from this particular story and zoom in on media in general. Another harmful stereotype is that Black people are more immune to pain than other races. This belief became so popular it created a death count. Black women are more than 3x more likely to die from preventable causes in childbirth due to bias that they feel less pain.
Follow me a little bit longer. This belief originated from tortuous GYN practices during slav—no segregation. They purposely popularized this belief to make their experiments seem ethical.

We’re about to head full circle. If it’s not clicking yet, you simply lack empathy and don’t care. Which is okay, just be honest with the class. Why are we pretending? It’s not like I can bya. But we’re almost there, I’ll give you a chance. An author in China did not make up this stereotype. Where did it come from? Bzzzzt! You said the United States. It’s Europe! They associated native people with uncivilized and barbaric stereotype so they could “educate” and…tame them. You tame an animal, not a human. You respect a human that is different, you tame an animal to get it to conform.
