Forget HR. Go to the labour board. HR is not there to help you. You go to the labour board and an employment lawyer (can be a pro bono one) and you report it there THEN you go to HR and let them know what happened and that you’ve already reported it to the labour board and hope they align their strategies for preventing this from happening again with the labour boards guidelines from now on. That’s what I did for discrimination and for sexual harassment in my country. The first time I was discriminated against, I went to HR and they fired me claiming it was something else and I couldn’t do anything about it (I was 18) and now, I won’t let that happen again. If you report it first, they legally cannot fire you when you report it to HR. It’ll be an instant lawsuit for them and you’d win hands down. Protect yourself.
