I dont really see it as abuse personally. Like red flag ya but many of the things that he done to MC is because MC is too dumb to heed his warnings and crossed the line too many times that's why he punishes MC using force but never going too far. He treated MC really well when MC didn't cross the line that he sets (such as working in a part time job that pays very little when he have already given MC his credit card to spend whenever he wants etc)
I can understand why MC could be wary but legit bro been trying to uplift his life since he started being possessive. He didn't even confine MC and allows him to go out, just that he doesn't like MC meeting with people without him knowing which could be solved by MC being honest and just sending him a text that he is meeting a friend etc
If you see ML as someone with a set of strict but not too unreasonable rules that must not be crossed and he have already given multiple chances to never cross him (crossing him = disrespecting him) and yet you kept doing it and it's like poking a stick at a Lion multiple times and then crying when it bites you...

I’ve read this about 3 times to completion and even finished the novel (which tbh is better and has more backstory and flushes out the ending wayyyy better). This story scratches an inch for a completely irredeemable, possessive, unhinged, bat shit crazy male lead. No he doesn’t get a redemption arc, and MC continues to be a cutie pie pushover. Very toxic story but exactly what I read when I need a pallet cleanser from all the fluffy stuff I read. Lol like ngl if you continue to read the story after the first 10 chapters then wtf do you expect the male lead to act like LOL. Not defending him but you kinda get the gist of what he’s like VERY early on in the story. Read if you want toxic leave if you’re expecting anything else.
