I feel like this is one of those scenarios where she just felt too much pressure from misogynistic societal norms to have a child to be deemed legible in the world. So many women with successful careers and significant accomplishments still can’t escape patriarchal society forcing them to essentially become baby producing factories without a care of what they want to do. She shouldn’t have abandoned her child like that but I just can’t help feeling for her. She was kind of pushed into that position of bad parent by her deadbeat ex husband and society.
