I guess it’s now Ponso’s turn to be hated by readers because…like…he’s supposed to know that Elko can’t be trusted.
For the rest of us, I guess Ponso truly feels indebted to Elko because of what he suffered in Galico. The guilt probably influences the way he sees Elko but at least he’s now suspicious. It’s only a matter of time before the truth comes out.
As far as he and Ari are concerned, I don’t think either of them are blameless. One can say the circumstances forced both of them in their respective circumstances. Just like there are those who said Ari had no choice but to become engaged to Ceaser due to the king trying to force her, there are those who should understand it was a coercive situation for Ponso as well. At least now he’s back in his home country, he can do something about his situation.
