I should’ve clarified my takes in both rankings for chapter 5 because I made the pair & ending out to be more potentially-sweet than it really is, the protagonist has a very warped view of love (it hurt to see but I could understand why he processed things a certain way with that other green-flag guy who was more passive in responding to MC’s obviously concerning questions…it sucks because he could’ve continued to experience true love and healing but needed more reassurance and confrontation with his conflicted feelings),, it’s super frustrating how his partner does not own up to his faults while the MC blames himself, it’s obviously not a good relationship but I find them interesting as a fictional dynamic regardless and wanna believe that they’ll gradually work out some boundaries, would lowkey read if they had a full-length story
All these stories could’ve been really interesting if they were fleshed out into their own full-length manga honestly

chapters ranked by most “healthy” to most “toxic” main ships: 1) #8 as the canonical ending message to encourage picking ‘healthy’ partners, 2) #4 as the actual lightest story, 3) #1 for mind games but mutual, 4) #3 because of whack behavior and an iffy “I can fix him” message but oddly wholesome with a rational and patient protagonist, 5) #2 for a happy turnout but only after all the threats and displaced anger (bro stay away from his mom), 6) #7 for lack of consent with both parties, had a strong start with admiration/respect and they’ve got potential, 7) #6 for all the mind games and tests with that piece of shit partner, not to mention the little to no attraction involved, 8) #5 as the most blatant abusive relationship (physically & verbally) and the twisted portrayal of how they’re ultimately “meant for each other”, both need help and better communication but at least it ends on a note where they’re slowly working at it
as for my personal rankings: 1) #1 wish it was a full-story, I dig the mental sadism vs masochism concepts and perversion, 2) #2 cool horror elements and a bittersweet story, apparently I cried when I first read this years ago, 3) #7 highs and lows but I like most of it and it’s interesting with strong potential, 4) #3 lowkey comforting and funny with potential growth, 5) nice and chill, 6) #5 not nice but toxic in a way I can stomach and they kinda are made for each other, 7) #8 too on-the-nose but interesting concept with a good ending, 8) most upsetting read and hate the ship, sucks too because I thought the protagonist was cute
