They tried, but Grayson is someone who can get out of any situation if he really wants to. And how he did it was really crazy.lol
And that plan from Josh, I mean he is letting his friend who is an omega ( he was unaware that Dane is a dominant omega), who jumps almost everything, kidnap Grayson....alone... .
I died of laughter when Dane made more or less Josh responsible for that he got together with Grayson.XD
The set up is that Grayson is looking for the love of his life/fated pair like his parents and wasn't successful so far. A fortune teller gives him a prediction (which turns out to be true), and get's knocked out by a dominant omega during a fire. So he thinks it was a firefigther and decided to look for them (originally a female, because the fortune teller confirmed that person has big breasts lol), by starting working at a firestation.^^
It's enemies to lover, so him and Dane are not getting along. But at some point Grayson get's curious about Dane, at the same time Josh sees it as an opportunity to kidnap Grayson so Chase can get everything of his chest, since Chase still is affected and needs Grayson to understand what he did. And since Grayson starts to suspect that Dane could be a dominant omega, Dane agrees to help Josh with that plan. And let's say it doesn't go as intented, and when that happens we're still in the first half of the story. And Dane is probably the hardest nut to crack, of all bottoms of the author. And Dane is a dominant omega, so Grayson can't subdue Dane with his pheromones ( and I don't think he would, if he could), it's the other way round.
Look, it doesn't really matter if you hate Grayson or not. Desire is one of the few stories of the author where I would say go for it, and you would most likely enjoy it.
Grayson in his own story is really entertaining, because you are getting his pov and the reactions to his crazyness/weird behaviour. And he has a pretty good character development.
But you could also just read it for Dane, or if you want to see Josh again, because he is involved in this mess. Chase also appears, and some other Millers (their parents, and his crazy sister Larien). Or you could read it to see Grayson getting karma, because he will suffer a lot. The main story of the novel has 195 chapters, so it is slowburn.
The author said that story's theme is healing, and it really is. That's something Dane needs and Grayson need. And with Grayson it can have an effect on his father and on Chase.

Steward art style kinda look older here than in kiss me liar. Anyways, YEAH, GRAYSON YOU DESEFVED THAT BEATING.
Also correct me if I'm wrong, but in Desire me, didn't Dane and Josh kidnapped Grayson? XD
