Doms, especially those who participate in sm play, also need and deserve aftercare. Bdsm can be very intense mentally and a lot of doms and sadists do need reassurance that what happened during play doesn't make them a bad person, that it was consensual and that the sub/masochist enjoyed it, just like how a lot of subs need reassurance that they're worthy of love etc.. Aftercare is so so much more than just taking care of injuries. It's cuddling, it's affection, it's talking about what felt good, what didn't feel good, how the play session made all parties feel. Aftercare helps people shed the play headspace, and to process and express the emotions they had during and after play.
Ofc it's clear that ml probably wouldn't have had the capacity to give aftercare to mc. I doubt he would learn either, as he didn't seem all that interested in how mc felt. Their dynamic would probably break down again, and either they split for good, or they're left in a cycle of breaking up and getting back together.
