I don't think died but repressed. The trauma was so traumatic that he was likely kept in the back of his mind
Maybe. I only say died, because the well god said that he isn’t like the other three, but a human soul that stayed tethered to the body like a curse. So I’m thinking why only he remained human while the others became supernatural? The well god also mentioned helping human mugo reach nirvana. To me that means he’s a spirit that hasn’t been able to pass on, because he’s stuck connected to the body. Idk though. We’ll see
So it seems like the original mugo died when the three alternates splintered, and only the alters became a god. The personality splinter was probably the moment the three mugos became supernatural, effectively separating them from the human mugo.
