lil rant :p

i genuinely cried… maybe i’m just a sensitive girly, but so what
i started reading this right after the preview dropped and the first chapter came out. i was already really into BJ Alex back then, so i thought this one was gonna be “good” too. i mean, bj alex wasn’t THE greatest story ever, but at that time it kinda felt like “all” we had so there’s definitely nostalgia attached to it anyways…

Jinx started off really harsh, and from the beginning we saw both sides of who the characters were. over time, most of us started hating jaekyung and pitying dan. but dan wasn’t like those typical weak mcs who stay no matter how badly they’re treated. even though he still loved jae, he packed his things and left. and honestly, that matters. his feelings didn’t magically disappear, but at least he stood up for himself and kept his self-respect.

and while that happened, we slowly started seeing jae’s perspective too. he was narcissistic, aggressive, selfish, abusive but it wasn’t just “his nature.” it was the way life shaped him. obviously that doesn’t excuse anything he did at all, but it explains why he became that way. then he started losing things. dan leaving and no longer chasing after him became the consequence of his own actions.

jae, who grew up around abuse and dedicated his whole life to a career built on violence, finally realized that the way he treated dan WAS abuse. and that realization mattered. he wanted to change, but realistically, people don’t unlearn years of toxic behavior overnight. it takes time.

and dan wasn’t naive either. he noticed the signs, but he didn’t want to interpret them that way because he was trying to protect his own feelings.

now we see jae as someone vulnerable, scared of loss, and emotionally exposed for the first time. and what really got me is that he didn’t try to force dan to stay. he let him go because he believed dan deserved freedom after everything he put him through. that hurt him deeply, and seeing him cry, apologize, admit his wrongdoings, and genuinely ask for forgiveness and THAT is character development.

i genuinely think the storyline and development were really good. dan went from being completely selfless and revolving around his love for jae to finally protecting his own peace and trying to move on. and jae went from this narcissistic, emotionally detached person to someone painfully vulnerable.

and honestly? the ending was actually really good. of course we all wanted more happy relationship moments and softer dynamics, but that’s just mingwa’s storytelling style. the side stories will probably be similar to bj alex too. one part for jae and dan, and another for heesung and potato

anyways sorry for the rant LMAOOO
and btw, before anyone twists my words: i am NOT supporting anything jae did. i’m supporting his growth, self-awareness, and acknowledgment of his actions later on.
