Yeah, after reading the other comments I feel the same way you do. He is dense but I definitely thinks it’s as a defense mechanism to protect himself rather then him just being stupid.

I know people are calling our mc dense,but I think he is more on the defensive side and has low self esteem because of that defective omega issue and it just feels like he doesn't want to get hurt by being emotionally attached to the wrong person or just assuming the wrong scenario. (While ironically assuming the wrong scenario)
I don't know if there are some past hurt feelings lingering in his mind or just some trauma but he feels like it has turned him into a very cautious person .
I mean what's wrong with not wanting to be hurt and humiliated?
