Well if you think about it that way then yea. Obviously it felt like another minus point to be a “weaker” race while the dude was mean. Cuz it wouldn't be as satisfying for the reader if he was a strong race like a tiger or smth. But yea. Hidden racism be like not even the author did it on purpose, they probably didn't even notice
i mean its natural for us to apply human ethics to everything since we're humans but its not exactly a one to one. despite there being different races we are all the same species of human and THAT is why racism is problematic for us because at the end of the day we are equal. taking into account their beast kind they are not even in the same class in the animal kingdom. if you want a deeper dive into this topic genuinely watch/read beastars lmao. tldr: was what he said mean? yes. was it racism? no.
Beastars is kinda different as they present it as different animals whereas i see it here more like a second gender (Or third gender cus this is also omegaverse?). Btw, I agree beastars isnt a race analogy but it doesnt mean that one beastkind should be treated worse than another. Like, one dude gets eaten in the story and its obv not okay because theyre a different animal.

“Way to pathetic to be a predator” isnt this basically racism if you think of their beast form as their race? Saying hes noisy so he must a chicken is kinda like making generalising about races.
