i love this so much. beom-jin and yoon-jae are absolutely adorable and i love how the story actually revolved around the plot without unnecessary angst or forced conflict in their relationship.

but oh my god, yeom-ra and yeom-oh. their backstory had me so so invested. i love how complex their relationship was. yeom-ra’s feelings toward yeom-oh felt like obsession while yeom-oh’s felt more like pity, but tbh i think their dynamic could also be read as romantic (even though i know it’s actually not since i’ve read the author’s note) and it works so well through that lens too especially with all the tension in the earlier chapters for both the present and flashbacks.

and the way their story concluded actually broke my heart like yes, yeom-oh finally found the courage to do the one thing he’d been hesitating to do since the very beginning. the thing he should’ve done before yeom-ra reached that point, and the only way to stop him in the present.

yeom-ra though… fuck, i know he’s the villain and all but i genuinely empathized with him because he’s such a complex character. he was just so lonely :*) but at the same time, the consequences of his actions were far too grave so i understand why his fate had to end the way it did. still hurts though because part of me was hoping he’d actually be redeemable.

anyway, i know i talked about the side characters way too much but i swear i love the main couple too. they’re still my absolute favorites. i just got carried away because it’s been such a long time since i’ve read a complex relationship (even if not romantic) that was written and handled this well.

all in all this instantly climbed its way into one of my favorite manhwas.
