Tbh I like the dynamic of cute caring uke with a lethal face card x tsundere seme who also had a lethal face card. Both people who fall for each other's face cards. Idk if the execution was really pulled off in a satisfying way... obviously for anyone who read the story, jaekyung had done some things that seemed a little too extreme but did we ever get a real payoff from it? Looking at it from a meta perspective, some parts seem more like torture porn for kim dan rather than actually serving any true purpose for their dynamic or for the plot that couldn't have been done in a less torture-porny way. Specifically speaking about low moments like chapter 34, which I don't remember getting addressed again and we all just have to pretend like it never happened or something since Jaekyung's apology was a catchall for every single shitty thing he did. But not all the shitty things he did were equal in the first place
You can still make jaekyung a jerk and find his redemption enjoyable without making some of his actions against Kim dan seem gratuitous af, which is the point I'm making against the author. Comparing part 2 to part 1, I feel like jaekyung has repented quite a bit and changes for the good but it's the author's fault for making him seem like such a monster at times when it was straight up not necessary. The story would've been fine if he was a little less of a monster at times (and still a big jerk) because in the end the outcome would be the same anyways.........
So yeah. It's not impossible to like the premise overall but the execution is a bit questionable, altho mingwa isnt able to go back and change part 1 to be less excruciating. I feel like we were all expecting a little more to address jaekyung's problems directly but mingwa is out of gas lol. Things like jaekyung not trusting Kim dan or throwing his bday present in the trash, i think are quite good ways to show that jaekyung hurts Kim dan emotionally so much and was something that could be earnestly worked on, so what in the world does chapter 34 do that a less gratuitous plot development couldn't have done.
