It's been a while since I've gone on a binge. There are parts of this that honestly surprised me. Spoilers: . . . . . . Especially the death of the shaman. I thought for sure it was the mom. But not HER mom. I will admit when her mom appeared in her dream before getting married and her dad suddenly disappearing after trying to make contact, I thought their family had powers and the shaman was a rival of theirs or something. But her mom really stuck around to protect her baby. "Blossom's" mom wishes she was that courageous.
