I really like season 1 but the story fell flat towards the end imo. Season 1 was intense, emotional and cruel and this season set the tone of the story for me. The complex feelings from both characters was interesting to read. Chapter 23-26 was truly heart wrenching. It’s not for everyone, but I think season 1 by itself is a great story.
Season 2&3 I supposed is meant to tell the atonement of Aeroc and Kloff. In terms of emotion intensity, I feel that it did not reach the heights of season 1 unfortunately. But I did went into it with the impression that these 2 seasons will be as heavy as the first which clearly isn’t the case. Setting that aside, I still wish these 2 seasons had more focus on say Kloff’s thoughts when he had his nightmares, Aeroc’s thoughts when he saw that the future is starting to diverge from his expectations. The fear, the confusion, the struggle of deciding what to do next — I wish these were narrated out more. I also wished the stories of when their kids (1st life) turned older were touched on more, especially when Rapiel Jr. found out about the truth of his birth papa, like what happened afterwards? And (don’t kill me) but imo there’s too much banging which kills the emotional immersion.
I think this story has a lot of potential though. I will definitely be back for the side stories and apparently there’s a third life where Kloff does not get together with Aeroc? I would love to read that.
