i think that's the extent of his power, Geumryang cannot prevent death but rather just prolong it. iirc Geumryang was kind of giving his life force to grandpa to save him, obviously he wouldn't be able to do that forever so he needed to go in the end. also he is already old, we must accept that cuz at least in the end grandpa knows that Taesung is in good hands.
seems like the twins healed Taesun's burned hand, and he might be realizing that his sons are also immortal just like Geumryang. being surrounded by gods if i were him I'd also miss grandpa as the last human i had as a family.
