I thought this could be a good light read but damn, it exceeded my expectations! The tension, the climax, the plot—everything was done good! The art improved as the story progressed, also.
I do feel like there are some parts that lack (like their romantic development, perhaps?) and some parts that felt rushed (or maybe I'm just too caught up with wars) but it was nonetheless a good read!
I do wish to know more about the dragon and Andrei's story, but then again, it's not like side characters ever get a spin off (if the author considers them to be romantic, I think?). Anyways, I really liked this one. The ML was a tad bit possessive but not as bad as those in BL stories these days.
THE FL IS ALSO VERY STRONG. THIS IS WHAT I MEANT WHEN I SAID I WANT A STRONG PROTAGONIST. She may have been naive and weak physically, and people may have perceived her as such, but her thoughts, her decisions, and how she prioritized the right things during the most complicated parts but still caring for others is such a great example of a good protagonist. She was very well written <3
There are some characters that I do think do not deserve their deaths (like the Duke's daughter that turned a new leaf and the godfather Duke)... I also hate the Emperor who is the ML's brother! Also, the plot for Ugel's emperor seemed a bit rushed and not really talked about in the narrative so I was a bit confused, but then again I do tend to scroll a bit too fast so I probably missed some vital information about him...
Anyways, if you plan to read this and have been skeptical due to differing reviews, please give it a try! I'm sure you won't regret it because it does have a very fresh appeal to it that isn't something you see these days. I now consider this one of my best reads (๑•ㅂ•)و✧
