I was thinking the exact same thing! If he knows nothing and was left alone then that is horrible and borderline cruel. This does not fit after the long speech about friendship and family. I do hope the bastard atleast remembers something so he can feel punishment.
Yeah they punished the one who did the problems and basically left a dementia patient wandering the streets without the benefit of past memories to pop up occasionally. Like strip the memories and banish him to another remote location to be cared for till he passes or just end him.
So the king is an absolute nightmare overcome by generational greed, but for a story about caring I am surprised they essentially left an elderly man stripped of his memories, family, and livelihood to the streets. Like at that point just kill him. He won't know what he did wrong to end up in such a position, and will have no skills or connections to survive he becomes a burden to other people.
Just another aspect of this story that doesn't freaking work.
