Her hero complex is what's going to get her in serious trouble. She seems to like taking in the "stray dog" kind of friends to the point they learn to love her - because clearly that's something they felt deprived of at the point they met - and then acts confused when they start treating her in that manner. I'm not saying she's wrong for it, and she's just a kid, but she needed more boundaries with both of those boys if she didn't want that sort of thing to happen.
