It’s actually soo saddd but it makes sense for Ilay’s character ngl I remember at some point in the novel suite he’s aware of how much he put taeui through and struggles with the fact that he can’t change his evil nature

I just hope ppl don’t switch up on ilay in the next chapters, I won’t justify his actions towards taeui but y’all need to understand his side as well and how much he sacrificed for taeui he risked his family,job HIS LIFEE by attacking a royal like Rahman, he even became a worldwide wanted terrorist just to see the person he prioritises most going with their ex-situationship(taeui didn’t actually wanna go but Xinlu threatened him with his brother) and ilay probably thought of a possibility where he might never see him again
