"Oh this top is such a crybaby and is so submissive he should've been bottom." "Oh this bottom is so badass and cool and always controls the top, he should've been top." "Oh this bottom IS TALLER than the top, he should've been top." ???? You are tasteless. There's this thing called sub and dom. Topping and bottoming isn't a personality trait. Not very woke of you guys?
On a side note, why are people so obsessed with characters switching too? "It's so unrealistic that they don't." not every gay couple in real life switches too?? What happened to preferences and dynamics? Fictional characters can be written with their own preferences too? Oh, buff guy x buff guy = switches? Really feeding into the stereotypes there eh?
YESS youre right Its a pretty stereotypical and heteronormative way of writing automatically making the more feminine character the bottom and the more masculine one the top. It reduces characters to a formula instead of letting their personalities actually matter.
Sorry I've been so used to seeing the term "switches" that I forgot that isn't even the correct term. It's "VERSE" that's for top and bottom, "Switch" is for sub and dom.
