.The dead girl is actually some other maid. If i recall properly that maid probably went out late at night for some water or to meet her bf. But accidentally encountered Ethan's older brother.(Yes, he was alive and is now in Vincent's mantion for revenge)
So to cover up, Ethan's older brother and his accomplice(that red head guy that's crazy for Alisha. Don't recall his name) kills the maid. Similar incident happened yet again and this time Paula starts to doubt Vincent as the killer for a good reason. I don't remember the reason though.
So she desperately tries to convince Alisha to leave with her but Alisha disagrees. Paula's anxiety and PTSD skyrockets when she is haunted by Lucas in her nightmares( this part of the novel made me think that she might actually have schizophrenia. Cause the novel didn't specify where it was her dream or something she saw when she was half asleep. But I feel like the manhwa will approach the typical nightmare scene ).
So,She, in the middle of the night packs her bags and runs towards the back gates and there, besides the rusty gate, in the branch if a tree, Paula sees that ribbon that Violent gave her, tied tightly. And she hears a crack. She turns around only to see Vincent. And he simply smiled and replied," I knew you'd come here someday." Which spooked our mousy even more. But eventually they communicate and everything gets resolved.
Then after a few days, BAAM! ENTERS VIOLET!!
And puts an end to all of Alisha's shenanigans using only TWO FUCKING LINES!
SHE AIN'T A DRAMA ENJOYER. Girly was just like, "okay, this has gone on for long enough. Time for me to end this bs" then proceeds to do what us, as readers would've done long ago.
Plot twist: the one who freed Ethan's older brother was................Ethan himself. He had already lost his parents, his beloved younger brother, Vincent started to ignore him, Violet became very busy due to the death of her husband. Due to all these, he just couldn't handle his guilt and thought that forgiving his brother and letting him escape was the right thing to do.
This is precisely the reason why Ethan had come to the mansion previously. He didn't know that his brother was in the mansion but he had his doubts. This is also the reason why when Ethan met Paula again, he kinda relate with her and the complex situation she was in. It's simply not a matter of "oh I love him but I am so hideous" or anything like that. Rather it's the fact that she is her only remaining sibling. And if anything were to happen to her, no one would truly call Paula as their out. (That's what she thinks)So,Even if it's the worst one, she can't seem to let go or give up on her. Ethan is in the exact same situation so he relates with her more and perfectly understands what she's going through.
Okay....my fingers hurt.

Why did Ethan kill her?
